Obediência / Obedience

Leitura Bíblica: Levítico 26:3-46

Se vocês seguirem os meus decretos e obedecerem aos meus mandamentos, e os colocarem em prática… (Levítico 26:3).

Atualmente, a palavra obediência não é muito bem vista. Cada um quer fazer o que bem entende, sem se importar com as consequências. Por isso, ao ler o texto da meditação de hoje, sugerimos de início uma separação de versículos. Os versos 3-13 falam das bênçãos ou recompensas da obediência; os versos 14-39, do castigo da desobediência, e os versos 40-46 são um reforço e um pedido para que escolhamos a opção de sermos obedientes.

As palavras contidas nestes versículos são claras e duras. Não deixam dúvidas de que com Deus não se brinca! Podemos até ter argumentos aparentemente bons para a desobediência; contudo, será que Deus aceitará nossas esfarrapadas desculpas?

Em todas as partes do mundo existem leis para ajudar os povos a conseguirem viver harmonicamente. Mesmo que muitos discordem de algumas leis, todos precisam cumpri-las ou serão tidos como “fora da lei” ou até criminosos por não observarem algum requisito. Para cada lei não cumprida existe geralmente uma cláusula indicando o “castigo” dos infratores. Existem recursos diversos para o infrator buscar se livrar das consequências de seus atos ilegais. Advogados, juízes, testemunhas, tudo vai convergir para avaliar a questão e dar um desfecho.

Poderíamos pensar na lei espiritual: quem é suficientemente apto para nos defender da acusação de “pecadores” diante de Deus? A Bíblia diz que Jesus é o advogado do cristão (I João 2:1), que nos justifica e garante que estamos libertos da escravidão do pecado (aquele poder que nos separa de Deus) se um dia escolhermos o caminho certo: Jesus Cristo (João 14:6). No entanto, para aqueles que não querem obedecer ao chamado de Deus ao arrependimento não há outro recurso, e sua própria decisão os condenará. – (ACS/VS)

Obedience

Bible reading: Leviticus 26: 3-46

If you follow my decrees and obey my commandments, and put into practice ... (Leviticus 26: 3).

Currently, the word obedience is not very well-liked. Each wants to do that, regardless of the consequences. So, when reading the text of today's meditation, you are advised to start a separation of verses. The 3-13 verses speak of the blessings or rewards of obedience; verses 14-39, the punishment of disobedience, and the verses 40-46 are a reinforcement and a request to choose the option of being obedient.

The words contained in these verses are clear and hard. Leave no doubt that God will not be toyed with! We may even have arguments apparently good for disobedience; But God will accept our flimsy excuses?

In all parts of the world there are laws to help people manage to live harmonically. Even though many disagree with some laws, everyone must comply or will be taken as "outside the law", or even criminals for not complying with any requirement. For each law is not fulfilled there is usually a clause indicating the punishment of offenders. There are various resources for the offender seek to get rid of the consequences of their illegal acts. Lawyers, judges, witnesses, all will converge to evaluate the issue and give a final outcome.

We could think of spiritual law: who is sufficiently able to defend against the charge of "sinners" in front of God? The Bible says that Jesus is the Christian advocate (1 John 2: 1), which justifies and ensures that we are freed from the bondage of sin (the one power that separates us from God) if one day we choose the right one: Jesus Christ (John 14: 6). However, for those who do not want to obey the call of repentance to God there is another feature, and his own decision condemns. -(ACS/VS)
