O texto de hoje fala de dois homens que voltavam para
casa. Iam de Jerusalém para Emaús e estavam discutindo sobre os
acontecimentos daquela cidade. Mostraram-se tristes e decepcionados por não
terem visto Jesus ressuscitado. O Senhor apareceu e começou a caminhar e a
conversar com eles, mas mesmo lado a lado com Jesus não o reconheceram. Hoje
muitos caminham levando o nome de Jesus em adesivos em seus carros ou em
camisetas e bonés, mas também não conhecem o Senhor vivo. Estão como aqueles
dois homens tristes e decepcionados: ainda não se encontraram verdadeiramente
com Jesus. Outros até carregam suas Bíblias, participam de cultos e de grupos
de oração e ainda assim não tiveram um encontro consciente com o Senhor. Jesus
chamou esse encontro de "novo nascimento" (João 3.3), e ele é
essencial para transformar nossa vida, assim como a daqueles dois homens a caminho
de Emaús. Eles estavam desencorajados e decepcionados por não terem entendido a
notícia sobre a ressurreição de Jesus, e esses sentimentos os cegaram a ponto
de não conseguirem reconhecer o Senhor quando este lhes explicava a verdade.
Foi como se tivessem um véu escuro diante dos olhos, que os impedia de
enxergar. Aquilo só mudou quando convidaram Jesus a entrar em sua casa e a
participar da sua intimidade para que pudesse intervir e retirar aquele véu.
Talvez você também já
tenha ouvido falar muito de Jesus e até sabe o que ele ensinou, mas mesmo assim
tudo isso parece não ter vida. Para Jesus nos curar da cegueira espiritual, das
tristezas e decepções e nos dar uma nova vida, é preciso convidá-lo para
efetivamente fazer parte da nossa vida.

The text today speaks
of two men who were walking home. Went from Jerusalem to Emmaus and were
discussing the events of that city. They were sad and disappointed not to have
seen the risen Jesus. The Lord appeared and started walking and talking with
them, but even side by side with Jesus not recognized. Today many walk taking
the name of Jesus in stickers on their cars or on t-shirts and hats, but also
do not know the Lord alive. Are like those two men sad and disappointed: I
haven't really met with Jesus. Others to carry their Bibles, participate in
worship and prayer groups and still not have a conscious encounter with the
Lord. Jesus called this meeting of "born again" (John 3.3), and it is
essential to transform our lives, as well as those two men on their way to
Emmaus. They were discouraged and disappointed not to have got the news about
the resurrection of Jesus, and those feelings the blinded to the point of not
being able to recognize when this explained the truth to them. It was as if
they had a dark veil in front of the eyes, that prevented them to see. It only
changed when they invited Jesus to come into your House and join your intimacy
so that could intervene and take that veil.
You
may also have heard much of Jesus and to know what he taught, but even so it
all seems to have no life. For Jesus to cure us of spiritual blindness, of
sorrows and disappointments and give us a new life, we must invite him to
actually be a part of our life.
