Expectativa

Senhor, é neste tempo que vais restaurar o reino a Israel? (Atos 1.6)

Quando
Jesus se tornou humano, havia uma grande expectativa quanto à vinda do Messias.
Sob o domínio romano, o povo aguardava aquele que faria Israel ser novamente
uma nação independente e forte. Lembravam-se das conquistas territoriais de
Davi, da riqueza e sabedoria de Salomão reconhecidas pelo mundo... e queriam
aquela glória novamente.
No texto de
hoje, Jesus fez um grande milagre e já queriam proclamá-lo rei. Cristo, porém,
recusou: não, não era essa sua missão. Ele demonstrou a que viera aos discípulos
de João Batista (Mateus 11.1-6): estava restaurando as pessoas, física e
espiritualmente! Seu reino não era desse mundo, como mais tarde disse a Pilatos
(João 18.33-37) quando este perguntou se ele era o rei dos judeus. Herodes
também não tinha gostado desse título atribuído a Jesus e tentou eliminar o
“concorrente” ainda criança (Mateus 2). Mesmo após a morte e ressurreição de
Jesus, muitos ainda esperavam que ele agisse conforme suas expectativas (veja o
versículo em destaque). Eles não tinham entendido nada! Como é complicado
aceitar algo que não cabe naquilo que já definimos como certo! Todos que
esperavam um messias político estavam completamente enganados!
E quantos
hoje têm expectativas erradas sobre Jesus? Veem-no como um “solucionador de
problemas”, que tem de curá-los e livrá-los dos perigos e sofrimentos deste
mundo... Se não for assim, Jesus não é aceito (como também não foi no primeiro
século). Apenas poucos creem no Messias e o amam como ele é, sem “algo a mais”.
Ele veio nos libertar sim, mas da escravidão a tudo que desagrada a Deus!
Pensando nisso, quais são suas expectativas quanto a Jesus? Você tem exigido
dele o que ele não prometeu? Busque conhecê-lo melhor, por meio da Bíblia e de
experiências com ele. Assim, você poderá adorá-lo com sinceridade, sem esperar
nada em troca!

Expectation

When
Jesus became human, there were great expectations about the coming of the
Messiah. Under Roman rule, the people waiting for the one who would Israel be
again an independent nation and strong. They remembered the territorial
conquests of David, the wealth and wisdom of Solomon recognized by the world
... and they wanted that glory again.
In
today's text, Jesus did a great miracle and they wanted to proclaim him King.
Christ, however, refused: no, that was not his mission. He demonstrated that
came to the disciples of John the Baptist (Matthew 11.1-6): I was restoring
people, physically and spiritually. His Kingdom was not of this world, as later
said to Pilate (John 18.33-37) when the latter asked him if he was the King of
the Jews. Herod also had not liked this title attributed to Jesus and tried to
eliminate the "contestant" as a child (Matthew 2). Even after the
death and resurrection of Jesus, many still expected him to act as their
expectations (see verse headlines). They had not understood anything. How
complicated is to accept anything that does not fit in what we define as right.
Anyone who expected a political Messiah were completely wrong!
And
how many today have wrong expectations about Jesus? They see it as a
"problem solver", you have to heal them and rid them of the dangers
and sufferings of this world. If not so, Jesus is not accepted (as it wasn't in
the first century). Only a few believers in the Messiah and love him as he is,
without "something more". He came to set us free Yes, but slavery to
everything that displeases God. Come to think of it, what are your expectations
of Jesus? You have required of him what he promised? Seek to know him better
through the Bible and experiences with him. So, you can worship him with
sincerity, without expecting anything in return.
