És Tu?

João, ao ouvir na prisão o
que Cristo estava fazendo, enviou seus discípulos para lhe perguntarem: “És
tu aquele que haveria de vir ou devemos esperar algum outro?” (Mateus 11.2-3)

Nos últimos
meses tenho vivido momentos especiais com Deus, agarrando-me às palavras
antigas e voltando à minha fé simples. Foi essa palavra acerca de João Batista
que marcou minha volta. Assim como ele, eu apenas precisava saber que Cristo
havia de fato chegado. Fico imaginando como João se encontrava quando recebeu
essa revelação. Provavelmente sentia-se sozinho, sem saída, sem recursos, sem
família.
E a única
coisa que ele ouve como resposta é sobre as obras que Jesus realizava naquele
momento. Como se dissesse: “Ei, amigo veja o que estou fazendo!” Por quê?
Porque as obras sempre apontam para a pessoa.
Talvez para
muitas pessoas a vida de João e o modo como ela estava terminando não parecia
muito coerente. Como filho de pai sacerdote, possuía a melhor educação, uma
casa confortável, poderia exercer influência não só religiosa como política,
poderia ter as roupas mais bonitas e a melhor comida. E, ao ir para o deserto,
parecia estar abrindo mão disso tudo. Mas na verdade estava cumprindo a sua
missão, exercendo o legado que recebera. Como um bom sacerdote, ele
apresentaria diante de todos o Cordeiro Santo.
O fato de
nos encontrarmos em desertos em alguns momentos da nossa vida não quer dizer
que algo de muito errado esteja acontecendo. Passar por eles faz parte de quem
somos e para que fomos chamados.
Apenas fico
pensando o que levou João a esquecer-se da declaração que fez no deserto sobre
o Messias, a ponto de ter de mandar seus discípulos confirmar se era mesmo
Jesus o Cristo que haveria de vir. Talvez, como ele, precisemos lembrar-nos das
palavras antigas a ponto de torná-las verdades inegociáveis.

pode ser sinal de que alguma verdade caiu no esquecimento.

Are You?

John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to
ask: "are you the one that should come, or should we expect someone
else?" (Matthew 11.2-3)

In
recent months I have experienced special moments with God, clinging to old
words and getting back to my simple faith. It was that word about John the
Baptist who scored. Just like him, I just needed to know that Christ had indeed
come. I wonder how John was in when received this revelation. Probably felt
alone, without output, no resources, no family.
And
the only thing he hears an answer is on the works that Jesus performed at that
time. As if to say, "Hey, buddy see what I'm doing!" Why? Because the
works always point to the person.
Perhaps
for many people the life of John and the way she was ending didn't seem very
consistent. As the son of priest's father, had the best education, a
comfortable home, could exert influence not only as religious politics, could
have the most beautiful clothes and the best food. And, to go to the desert,
seemed to be giving up all that. But actually, I was fulfilling its mission
while the legacy which he had received. As a good priest, he would present
before all the Holy Lamb.
The
fact that we meet in deserts in some moments of our lives doesn't mean that
something very wrong is happening. Through them is part of who we are and what
we were called.
Just
keep thinking what led John to forget the statement made in the desert about
the Messiah, the point of having to send his disciples confirm that Jesus was
the Christ who should come. Maybe, like him, we need to remember the old words
about to make them non-negotiable truths.

oblivion.
