Você acabou
de ler parte de uma história que fala de Neemias e da inspeção que ele fez nos
muros de Jerusalém. A situação crítica dos muros, oposição e a zombaria que
enfrentou não foram motivos para deixar de trabalhar na reforma. Uma das
características fortes que aparecem em Neemias, que era copeiro de Artaxerxes,
rei da Pérsia, é a sua disposição para servir a Deus.
Servir nem
sempre é fácil, exige dedicação e algumas vezes renúncia. Não me refiro apenas
ao serviço a Deus na igreja, mas também no trabalho do dia a dia.
Outro dia
comentávamos entre colegas de trabalho o quanto é difícil encontrar pessoas que
estejam dispostas a fazer um pouco mais do que aquilo pelo qual são pagas.
Parece-me que estamos vivendo numa época em que tudo deve ser pago. Só se trabalha
quando há remuneração. Por outro lado, existem aqueles que preferem pagar
alguém a fazer alguma coisa. Lembro-me quando meu grupo de jovens da igreja se
reunia aos sábados à tarde para fazer a limpeza do pátio da nossa comunidade.
Eram momentos de comunhão e alegria. Ali cada um podia servir ao Senhor. Hoje
vejo igrejas que, para cada setor, seja para limpeza ou para os diferentes
ministérios na igreja, têm uma pessoa contratada. Há situações em que isso se
faz necessário, mas quero desafiá-lo a pensar um pouco além dessa realidade.
Neemias
poderia ter ficado no conforto do palácio realizando seu serviço diário.
Afinal, também ali estava servindo a Deus. Mas ele se permitiu ser desafiado a
pensar além da sua fronteira, do seu trabalho cotidiano. Tem muito mais a ser
feito do que ele fazia no dia a dia.
Assim, quero
desafiá-lo como também o Salmo 100 faz no versículo em destaque. Sirva ao
Senhor com alegria e dedicação. Não faça apenas o trabalho que se espera de
você, esteja disposto a fazer um pouco mais. Há muitos “muros” param serem
reconstruídos.

You've
just read part of a story that speaks of Nehemiah and the inspection that he
made on the walls of Jerusalem. The critical situation of the walls, opposition
and the mockery he faced were not reasons to stop working on reform. One of the
strong points that appear in Nehemiah, who was cupbearer of Artaxerxes, King of
Persia, is at your disposal to serve God.
Serve
isn't always easy, it requires dedication and sometimes resignation. I'm not
just talking about service to God in the Church, but also in day to day work.
The
other day we were discussing between coworkers how hard it is to find people
who are willing to do a bit more than that for which they are paid. It seems to
me that we are living at a time when everything should be paid. Only works when
there is remuneration. On the other hand, there are those who prefer to pay
someone to do something. I remember when my church youth group gathered
Saturday afternoon to clean up the yard of our community. They were moments of
communion and joy. There each could serve the Lord. Today I see churches that,
for each sector, whether for cleaning or for different ministries in the
Church, have a person hired. There are situations where this is necessary, but
I want to challenge you to think a little beyond this reality.
Nehemiah
could have stayed in the comfort of the Palace performing your daily service.
After all, there also was serving God. But he allowed himself to be challenged
to think beyond your borders, your daily work. There's much more to be done
than he did on a daily basis.
So,
I want to challenge you as well as Psalm 100 does in the verse highlighted.
Serve the Lord with joy and dedication. Don't just do the work that is expected
of you, is willing to do a little more. There are many "walls" stop
being rebuilt.
