Advogado
Leitura bíblica:

[Deus] estabeleceu um dia em que há de julgar o mundo com
justiça por meio do homem que designou. E deu provas disso a todos,
ressuscitando-o dentre os mortos (Atos 17.31).

Conta-se
que um malfeitor acusado de inúmeros e bárbaros crimes estava preso e que nenhum
advogado aceitara trabalhar em sua defesa. Certo dia, um advogado foi até ele
oferecendo-lhe de graça seus serviços, apenas com o objetivo de tentar ajudá-lo
naquela difícil situação. O prisioneiro não quis aceitar a ajuda, alegando que
já que tinha cometido tantos crimes que dificilmente algum juiz o absolveria. O
advogado não desistiu do caso na primeira visita e ofereceu seus serviços
repetidas vezes, mas o prisioneiro sempre recusou. Finalmente, o advogado
desistiu e seguiu sua vida profissional.
Tempos
depois chegou o grande dia do julgamento. Ao entrar na sala do tribunal, o
prisioneiro observou que o juiz em questão era o mesmo advogado que fora
procurá-lo tempos atrás para oferecer-lhe ajuda. Agora tornara-se juiz. O
prisioneiro pensou: “Ficará tudo bem! Este juiz me conhece, já me procurou na
prisão e sabe todo o meu histórico e me absolverá. Ele até queria ser meu
advogado!”
No entanto,
o juiz o condenou à prisão perpétua.
Sem
entender, o prisioneiro questionou: “O senhor me conhece, já me procurou e sabe
de tudo o que fiz. Por que me condenou?” Respondeu o juiz: “Enquanto eu era
advogado quis ajudá-lo e salvá-lo da condenação, mas você não aceitou. Hoje sou
juiz e minha sentença é esta, pois perante a lei nunca o conheci!”
Fazendo um
paralelo deste episódio com a leitura bíblica de hoje, atualmente Jesus se
oferece para ser advogado a nosso favor, a fim de que no dia do julgamento
final estejamos prontos para a sentença. Amanhã, porém, ele será nosso juiz.
Aceite sua ajuda divina. Se você ainda não tomou esta decisão, receba hoje
Jesus como seu Salvador, pois amanhã poderá ser tarde demais. Ele se tornará
juiz.

Lawyer

It
is said that a criminal accused of numerous crimes and barbarians was arrested
and that no lawyer had accepted to work on his defense. One day, a lawyer came
to him offering free services with the goal of trying to help him in that
difficult situation. The prisoner did not want to accept the help, claiming
that since it had committed so many crimes that hardly any judge to let him
off. The lawyer did not give up the case on the first visit and offered his
services again and again, but the prisoner always refused. Finally, the lawyer
gave up and followed his career.
Later
came the great day of judgment. Upon entering the court room, the prisoner
noted that the judge in question was the same lawyer who had been looking for
him long ago to offer him help. Now became a judge. The prisoner thought:
"everything will be OK! This judge knows me, I've searched the prison and
you know all my history will absolve me. He even wanted to be my lawyer! "
However,
the judge sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Without
understanding, the prisoner questioned: "you know me, I've searched and
you know what I've done. Why convicted me? " Replied the judge:
"While I was a lawyer wanted to help him and save him from conviction, but
you didn't take it. Today I am a judge and my verdict is this, because before
the law never met him! "
Doing
a parallel of this episode with the biblical reading today, Jesus currently
offers to be a lawyer in our favor, so that on judgment day we are ready for
sentencing. Tomorrow, however, it will be our judge. Accepted your divine help.
If you have not taken this decision, receive Jesus as your Savior today,
because tomorrow may be too late. He becomes a judge.
