Disseram ao rei: “Daniel, um dos exilados de
Judá, não te dá ouvidos, ó rei, nem ao decreto que assinaste. Ele continua
orando três vezes por dia” (Daniel 6.13).

O capítulo da
leitura bíblica de hoje está repleto de nomes que representam famílias. Entre
eles há um que se destaca: Jabez, que significa dor. Conforme o texto, ele foi
o homem mais respeitado da sua família. Sua mãe deu-lhe este nome porque com
muitas dores o havia dado à luz. Era hábito nas culturas antigas dar às
crianças nomes que lembrariam as circunstâncias do seu nascimento. Contudo, Jabez
orou ao Deus de Israel (é a primeira evocação de Deus no livro de 1 Crônicas)
pedindo que o abençoasse, que aumentasse suas terras e que a mão de Deus
estivesse com ele, guardando-o de males e livrando-o de dores. Depois que os
judeus retornaram do seu exílio na Babilônia, estavam ansiosos por ter suas
fronteiras alargadas. Jabez não tentou essa conquista por força própria, mas
pela oração a um Deus de poder.
Talvez o nome
que tinha poderia parecer-lhe desagradável. Porém, a confiança em um Deus
poderoso para mudar destinos ruins em ótimos o fez orar pedindo especialmente
que ficasse livre de dores. E conforme narra o relato bíblico, “Deus atendeu ao
seu pedido” (4.10).
Talvez você se
encontre em uma situação parecida com a de Jabez. Não gosta de seu nome,
sente-se injustiçado, é uma pessoa que sofre com muitas dores ou talvez é a
pessoa mais ridicularizada em sua família. Se isto estiver acontecendo, faça
como Jabez, ore a Deus e seja a pessoa mais respeitada da sua família. O
versículo em destaque trata de Daniel, em uma situação totalmente diferente,
mas mostra que ele foi respeitado até pelo rei persa Dario – e sua vida de
oração tinha tudo a ver com isso. Busque ajuda em Deus e ele ajudará você a ser
uma pessoa respeitada em qualquer situação.

Maybe
you are in a similar situation to that of Jabez. Don't like your name, feels
wronged, is a person who suffers from a lot of pain or maybe is the most
ridiculed in your family. If this is happening, do as Jabez, pray to God and is
the most respected person in your family. The verse in the spotlight comes to
Daniel, in a totally different situation, but it shows that he was respected
even by the Persian King Darius – and your prayer life had everything to do
with it. Get help in God and he will help you to be a respected person in any
situation.
