Sem Medo

Busquem, pois, em primeiro lugar o Reino de
Deus e a sua justiça, e todas essas coisas lhes serão acrescentadas (Mateus
6.33).

Logo que Jesus
iniciou o sua atividade, começou a chamar os primeiros discípulos. Alguns
prontamente aceitaram o desafio. Largaram seus afazeres e começaram a caminhar
com Jesus mesmo sem saber muito bem o que os esperava. Jesus chamou Pedro e seu
irmão André, que eram pescadores, dizendo: “Sigam-me, e eu os farei pescadores
de homens”. No mesmo instante eles deixaram suas redes e o seguiram (Mateus 4.19-20).
Quando Jesus viu Mateus sentado na coletoria, também lhe disse: “Siga-me”.
Mateus levantou-se e o seguiu.
Contudo, conforme você leu no texto indicado, nem todas as pessoas que
ouviram Jesus aceitaram prontamente o seu convite. Algumas se sentiram
desafiadas a seguir Jesus, mas lhe impuseram uma condição. “Senhor, deixa-me ir
primeiro sepultar meu pai” (verso 21). Outro disse: “Vou seguir-te, Senhor, mas
deixa-me primeiro voltar e despedir-me da minha família” (Lucas 9.61).
Aparentemente eles tinham justificativas para não aceitar prontamente o chamado
de Jesus. Todavia, quando se trata de Jesus, nada é mais importante do que ele.
Jesus é enfático quando diz: “Se alguém vem a mim e ama o seu pai, sua mãe, sua
mulher, seus filhos, seus irmãos e irmãs, e até a sua própria vida mais do que
a mim, não pode ser meu discípulo” (Lucas 14.26).
Mas, mesmo que o chamado de Jesus seja radical, não há motivo para ter
medo. Existe uma promessa maravilhosa para aqueles que colocam Jesus em
primeiro lugar na sua vida. Conforme versículo em destaque, aquele que busca o
Reino de Deus e sua justiça em primeiro lugar recebe dele todas as coisas que
lhe são necessárias para a vida. Nada lhe faltará. Em Jesus existe vida plena e
abundante (João 10.10). Por isso quero desafiá-lo: levante-se e siga a Jesus!
Ele é o caminho para a verdadeira vida.

Nada é mais importante ou de maior valor do que seguir a Jesus. Nenhuma
pessoa e nenhum tesouro valem mais do que ele.

As
soon as Jesus began his activity, started calling the first disciples. Some
readily accepted the challenge. They dropped their business and started walking
with Jesus even without knowing very well what the expect. Jesus called Peter
and his brother Andrew, who were fishermen, saying: "follow me, and I make
them fishers of men". At the same time they left their nets and followed him
(Matthew 4.19-20). When Jesus saw Matthew sitting at the tax Bureau,
also said: "Follow me". Matthew got up and followed him.
However, as you read in the text shown, not all
people who heard Jesus readily accepted his invitation. Some felt challenged to
follow Jesus, but imposed a condition. "Lord, let me first go and bury my
father" (verse 21). Another said: "I will follow you, Lord, but first
let me go back and say goodbye to my family" (Luke 9.61). Apparently they
had reasons not to accept readily the call of Jesus. However, when it comes to
Jesus, nothing is more important than him. Jesus is emphatic when he says:
"If anyone comes to me and love your father, your mother, your wife, your
children, your brothers and sisters, and even his own life more than me, cannot
be my disciple" (Luke 14.26).
But even if the call of Jesus to be radical,
there's no reason to be afraid. There is a wonderful promise for those who put
Jesus first in your life. As verse, he who seeks the Kingdom of God and his
righteousness first gets him all the things that are necessary for life.
Nothing you'll miss. In Jesus there is full and abundant life (John 10.10). So
I want to challenge you: stand up and follow Jesus. He is the way to true life.

Nothing is more important or of greater value
than follow Jesus. No person and no treasure worth more than he.
